9 Month Postpartum Baby Update

Oh my gosh, where has the time gone? I haven’t blogged for almost a month, because I was so busy with work, the holidays and being sick (yep, it’s that time of the year for all three of us), but here I am and our daughter is now 9 months old! She is turning into such a happy, chatty, little lady! She has the best laugh and it’s really easy to make her do that. Sometimes I’m really amazed by how she’s an actual person now, instead of a helpless little baby. Time flies and a lot has happened since the last update.

I cannot believe how big she’s getting! She is still wearing European size 62, but sometimes I need a size 68 and even her coat is a size 74 already and fits perfectly! I am so proud! She doesn’t crawl, yet somehow she manages to move around the floor by rolling her body around. You blink your eye and she can be in a totally different place, it’s so funny. Also, sitting by herself doesn’t seem to be on her to do list right now. She can sit in her chair, or on the couch, but not on a hard surface, like the floor. She’ll immediatly tumble over. In her 7th month she started to put her feet in her mouth (also super funny), last week we discovered a tooth coming in and at the same time she actually started babbling and saying ‘papa’! We don’t know if she knows what it means, but it was beautiful! She’s been saying it almost every day since! What I love most about this period, is that she starts to find things funny, other than our funny faces. A few weeks ago, when she was watching BabyTV (a lifesaver for parents, I tell you!) I suddenly heard her laugh about something on tv, which never happened before. It was the best!

Overall I am pretty satisfied with how things are going at night. We change her diaper and put her in her pajamas after dinner, around 6. Than she hangs around with daddy on the couch, sometimes they read a book or they just ‘chat’ (which is adorable) and then she goes to bed around 6.30 or 7, after a quiet bottle in her room. We might start skipping this bottle though, because she only drinks a little. We still give her a dream feed around 11 at night, because she seems to need that one. Sometimes it’s difficult for her to fall asleep and she’ll cry a lot, but when she does fall asleep she’ll sleep until around 8 or 8.30 in the morning! Then, a nap right after her breakfast bottle, until around 10 of 10.30 and again around 1, for about 2 hours.

With the last baby update, when she was 6 months, I didn’t see how we were ever going to let her eat properly. That totally changed! She eats like a constructionworker! And it seems like she loves all the flavours, except for pasta! It’s so weird, but everytime we feed her that (sometimes blended with still pieces in it and sometimes blended smooth) she really doesn’t want it! She loves potatoe though! It doesn’t matter what kind of veggies it’s blended with, or if it’s a stew, she loves it! Her fruit in the morning, same story, loves it all! Also, for lunch I feed her a sandwich, which she never finishes, but for now it’s enough. Usually it’s with peanutbutter (a special one for babies) or a strawberry/beet spread (also for babies).

Unfortunetly she happens to be in a phase where she can’t play by herself for too long, or she will start screaming bloody murder. But she does have a few favourite things (that don’t involve whiskers on kittens or warm woolen mittens) that she absolutely loves to play with. A few weeks ago, I got her a red painted wooden raddle with a purple bird on it and the minute she got her hands on it, she started laughing at it. And she’s been doing it ever since. She actually screams of laughter when she sees it. Also, things with lights. Basically, if it has batteries in it, it’s a winner. Also, she has a Miffy raddle and a Bright Starts butterfly (which you can see in the picture above) that she loves! She watches BabyTV for, like, a half an hour a day. And I know you shouldn’t let your baby watch tv, bladiebla, I know. But like I said before, it’s a freakin’ lifesaver, m’kay? BabyTV is the only channel she watches and she already has her favourites! She loves to watch Mona & Sketch, The Post Train, Hungry Henry and Billy BamBam. Although I have to say that the first three could also be my own favourites, I have to be honest here. I mean, it must be normal to actually know the words to all the songs, right? Yeah, didn’t think so either. Sometimes I realize it’s still on, while she has been asleep for a like an hour.

I love everyday with my little lady. She can be a real hand full and sometimes at the end of the day, I can’t do anything anymore and I just want a shower and go to bed. But she gives me so much love and laughs, it’s amazing. Thank you for your interest in my baby’s development and if you have any questions , feel free to ask them down below and I will try answer them as well as I can! Bye now!

  1. So cute!! My little girl just turned 8 months old today. It’s crazy how fast they grow. My daughter is so weird about pasta too, but she seems to love everything else! Banana flavored rice rusks are her favorite snacks. I’ll have to check out BabyTV though. I tried getting my daughter to watch tv a few months ago but she just wasn’t interested. Tonight, the news was on and her daddy couldn’t get her to look at him because she was too interested in the tv. Ha! Definitely going to be following along! (;

    1. Yes! Rice cakes! My girl devours them! I always give her apple cinnamon flavoured ones, she’s in love with those! Please know what you’re getting yourself into with the BabyTV though, you won’t be able to get the songs out of your brain 😉

      1. Oooh, she would probably love apple cinnamon. I haven’t seen those yet. & yeah… well, there’s plenty of nursery rhymes in my head that I would be happy to replace with something else for a bit, ha!
